If you like to be in touch with nature this is an adventure you cannot miss! Isla Contoy is a small island located 28 kilometers north of Isla Mujeres, the island is 8.75km long and 200 to 500m wide. Since 1961 it has been under the protection of the Mexican government and it was declared a national park in 1998. Isla Contoy is rich in flora and fauna, 98 species of plants have been counted, the island is a bird sanctuary for the 152 species of birds and tropical marine, such as Frigates, Pelicans, Swallows etc. Due to the nutrients in the water there are many marine species such as lobsters, octopus, shrimp, hawksbills, green turtles and loggerheads, which nest and lay their eggs on the island.
We'll board at 8:30 am and on the way to Isla Contoy we'll stop to snorkel at Ixlache reef where we will see a large variety of fish and coral. When we arrive at Isla Contoy, our certified bilingual guide will give us a tour of the island. You’ll have time to explore while we prepare a grilled fresh fish lunch on the beach..
What to bring
Wear your swim suit and bring a light shirt, towel, sunglasses, hat and eco-friendly sunscreen.
We provide all snorkeling gear and life jackets.
